The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has postponed the commencement of the 2026 Batch B Stream 02 Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States over renovation works currently on at camps in both states.
The NYSC confirmed the development which was relayed in released a statement through its Director, Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, stating that the rehabilitation exercise became imperative to ensure seamless and conducive environment for the corps, in a measure put in place by the two state governments.
The circular, on Friday, stated that the course would now be held on Wednesday, August 12, while the cut-off and swearing in ceremony would take place on Friday, August 14, the closing ceremony now billed for Tuesday September 1.
The body advised all corps members to exercise safety, plan their journeys accordingly and avoid traveling to their camps at night.
“The Management of the National Youth Service Corps wishes to announce the extension of the commencement date for the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course in Sokoto and Niger States. This is due to the ongoing renovation works in both Orientation Camps by their respective State Governments,” the statement read.
“All Prospective Corps Members are advised to avoid embarking on night travels to their Orientation Camps,” the NYSC said.
The Director-General of the NYSC, Olakunle Nafiu, wished all prospective corps members safe journeys to their respective orientation camps as preparations continue for the exercise.
