No fewer than 48 suspected armed robbers and hoodlums have been arrested by operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command during a coordinated security operation targeting criminal activities across the state.
The operation also led to the recovery of several items believed to have been abandoned by fleeing suspects.
Recovered exhibits include 17 motorcycles, three bicycles, one generator, three speakers, and three drums, all allegedly abandoned by the suspects during the raids.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said on Tuesday that the intelligence-led operation was carried out jointly with other security agencies as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore public confidence in security operations.
He explained that the arrests were made during a joint show of force and coordinated raids on identified criminal hideouts across the Gusau metropolis.
Abubakar added that the suspects are currently under investigation and assured residents that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
“The suspects are currently under investigation, and those found culpable will be charged to court,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmad Bello, reiterated the command’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements, stressing that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority.
“The Command remains committed to combating crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state,” Bello said.
