The flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the upcoming governorship election in Osun State, Munirudeen Oyebamiji, has talked down the viral claims of ‘federal might’ as an advantage as he chases victory at the polls.
Oyebamiji said that he is campaigning vigorously and putting in efforts to openly contest for the position of the state’s governor, adding that he has the resident’s permit to contest and win during the exercise.
The aspirant was speaking in a debate held with aspirants from political parties vying for the position in Oshogbo on Tuesday, disclosing that he had held a meet-up with stakeholders of the area, in form of traditional rulers, council chairmen, other big wigs as well as the residents in all 30 local governments in the state, as part of his endeavour to achieve his target as the leader of the area.
During the discourse, he accused the incumbent Governor, Ademola Adeleke, of taking the revenue from all councils to two of them, in a show of disparity to other areas.
In his agenda, Oyebamiji stated that he plans to better the security, Agriculture, Education, Health conditions in the state, adding that he would ensure an inclusive government where all communities enjoy dividends of democracy.
He stressed on the state not being a civil-service based state, stating that he has an eye to improve the agricultural prospects which has been a pivotal aspect in the area, adding that he also aims to invest into transportation to ensure move revenue for the administrative runnings.
The flagbearer accused Adeleke of not attending to the needs of the residents in budget planning. He said that the governor only puts the infrastructural works out of the people’s consideration, adding that his administration, if voted in, would priotise people’s needs, stating that the current government has a low-level plan in carrying out the dividends of democracy for the residents.
He also claimed that the infrastructural works put in place by the Accord Party flagbearer, also mentioning that the works were given to quack contractors, adding that the roads being done have not met normal standards.
Furthermore, Oyebamiji, also opined that the Adeleke-led government has failed to hold a council meeting with the residents to know their plight and ascertain ways to curtaling them.
When asked on what would happen come August 15 election, the APC aspirant said that he is expected a win, and is eager on providing dividends of democracy when sworn-in as the next Governor.
