The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Aminu Wushishi, has died in Niger State after a brief illness.
His death was reported in Minna, the state capital, around the time of the Juma’at prayer on Friday.
Condolences have since poured in from his associates and political contacts in Niger State and beyond.
The Digital Rector of Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru, Ibrahim Kontagora, described his death as a major loss to Kontagora Emirate, Niger State and Nigeria.
Kontagora said Wushishi was a distinguished personality whose service to humanity would be remembered.
He prayed for the forgiveness of the deceased, his acceptance into Aljannatul Firdaus and strength for his family and associates to bear the loss.
Wushishi became NPC chairman on December 2, 2025, succeeding Nasir Kwarra, whose tenure had ended.
Before his appointment, he held various public positions and served as Secretary of the Niger State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Details of his funeral arrangements had not been officially announced as of the time of filing this report.
