The family of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has dismissed reports claiming that the 66-year-old actor has died.
The clarification followed a viral Facebook post alleging that Ogogo’s daughter, Haleemah Taiwo, had announced his death after several hospitals reportedly refused to admit him.
However, Ogogo’s daughter, Lima Taiwo, debunked the claim in an Instagram post on Tuesday, describing it as false and urging the public to disregard it.
The denial came a day after Lima and her sister, Kira Taiwo, appealed for urgent medical assistance for their father, who is battling stage four cancer.
In an emotional video shared on Instagram, Lima said the family only became aware of the severity of Ogogo’s condition about three weeks ago.
She explained that the actor’s physical appearance had initially made it difficult for the family to fully understand how serious his condition was.
According to her, the family was not seeking financial donations but needed assistance in accessing hospitals and medical specialists capable of providing the appropriate treatment.
“We are not asking for money. We need help with hospitals and doctors who can treat him,” she said.
Meanwhile, her sister, in a separate appeal, said doctors had informed the family that the hospital currently treating Ogogo could no longer administer chemotherapy due to the advanced stage of his illness.
They appealed to cancer specialists, hospitals and medical professionals to help the family secure appropriate treatment for the veteran actor.
