The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU) Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) chapter, has commenced an indefinite strike over alleged unpaid entitlements amounting to over N3 billion.
Chairman of the union, Dr Zubairu Loko, stated this, Monday, after an emergency meeting of the union in Keffi.
He warned that members of the union would not return to the classroom until all outstanding entitlements are cleared.
He added that the decision was in line with resolutions reached at the last National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the union in July.
He accused the university management and the Nasarawa state government of insensitivity to the welfare of its members.
The chairman noted that the outstanding arrears include Earned Academic Allowance, consequential adjustment from the implementation of the national government and approved salary increment for university lectures.
