The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced that parts of Nasarawa State will experience a temporary blackout as it commences scheduled maintenance on a transformer at the Akwanga 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The planned maintenance is part of efforts to enhance the reliability of the national transmission network and improve bulk electricity supply to consumers in the affected areas.
The maintenance began at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, and is expected to be completed by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
During the exercise, TCN will carry out maintenance on the 40MVA 132/33kV Transformer TR1 at the Akwanga Transmission Substation.
As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive bulk power from the affected transformer for distribution to customers in Akwanga, Nasarawa and surrounding communities, including the Water Board and nearby areas.
TCN apologised for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause and appealed to customers in the affected locations for understanding, assuring that the maintenance is necessary to improve the reliability of the transmission system and strengthen power supply.
