The Lagos state Police Command has nabbed four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly linked to recent killings, armed robbery and cult-related activities in the Ajah axis of the state.
The suspects were arrested during sustained follow-up operations carried out by operatives of the command in connection with a robbery case.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos state command, SP Abimbola AdebisI, Wednesday, identified the suspects as Kareem Abiodun, 26; Tansiru Emmanuel, 29; Lateef Usman, 28 and Alashe Azeez, 32.
The police also recovered three locally made pistols, one live ammunition, two battle axes and a Point-of-Sale (PoS) machine from the suspects.
The command said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were linked to recent robbery activities around Ajah, Sangotedo and Ibeju-Lekki areas of the state.
The suspects also reportedly made confessional statements over their alleged involvement in armed robbery, murder and cult-related activities.
The command said the suspects remained in police custody and would assist investigators with ongoing investigations, while efforts were being intensified to apprehend other members of the gang and recover additional exhibits allegedly in their possession.
The police said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos state command, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the operatives for their diligence and sustained follow-up efforts that led to the arrest and recovery of the weapons.
