Lagos Govt issues traffic advisory ahead Agege food hub commissioning

The Lagos State Government has issued a traffic advisory, warning motorists of expected congestion and urging them to consider alternative routes ahead of the commissioning of the Agege Fresh Food Hub.

The event, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, is scheduled to take place on the 12th of August, between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at Pen Cinema, Agege.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the commissioning was expected to attract a high volume of vehicular and pedestrian traffic around the Pen Cinema-Agege axis.

Osiyemi advised motorists who intend to ply the route during the period to plan their journeys ahead of time to minimise delays and avoid unnecessary congestion.

He said officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be deployed to strategic points within the axis and adjoining areas to regulate traffic and ensure the smooth movement of vehicles.

The commissioner urged motorists and commuters to cooperate with traffic management officials and comply with directives issued at the scene, stressing that such cooperation would help minimise disruption during the event.

He further advised road users to explore alternative routes where possible and exercise patience while travelling through the affected areas, particularly during the peak period of the commissioning.

The state government also appealed to residents and motorists to make necessary adjustments to their travel plans, noting that the advisory was intended to help reduce the impact of the expected increase in human and vehicular movement.

It expressed regret over any inconvenience the event might cause and appreciated the understanding and cooperation of residents and other road users.
