The board’s Command, in a released statement, held that it imposed the directive after receiving information about the youth planning to stage the festival, adding that the action formed part of its responsibility to promote discipline, preserve Islamic values and maintain public morality accross the state.
The circular, released in Damaturu on Monday, added further that it would continue to monitor and take appropriate measures to ensure peace, moral discipline, and the preservation of religious values in society, also stressing that those who act in contrary to the directive would face legal as consequences of the disobedience.
“The Hisbah Board will not relent in taking legal action against anyone found organising or supporting such activities,” it warned.
