Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has announced the creation of four new ministries and redeployed some commissioners in a major cabinet reshuffle less than 10 months to the end of his tenure.
The changes, which include the appointment of new commissioners and the reassignment of some serving members of the cabinet, are aimed at strengthening the administration’s focus on key sectors of the state’s development.
Sule announced the new portfolios on Tuesday, shortly after swearing in the newly appointed commissioners.
The newly created ministries are the Ministry of Tertiary and Technical Education, Ministry of Livestock Development, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, and Ministry of NGOs and Disaster Management.
Muhammad Nagogo was appointed Commissioner for Tertiary and Technical Education, while Umar Tunga, a returning commissioner, will oversee the Ministry of Livestock Development.
Ahmed Mohammed was assigned the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, while Mohammed Baba will head the Ministry of NGOs and Disaster Management.
Other commissioners appointed to new portfolios include Mohammed Oyigye for Agriculture and Food Security; Nawani Aboki for Information, Culture and Tourism; Jibril Ibrahim for Youth and Sports Development; Ashefo Daniel Paul for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning; and Rabecca Kpadji for Women Affairs, Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs.
The governor also redeployed Yakubu Kwanta from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to the Ministry of Works, Infrastructure and Housing.
Meanwhile, other members of the State Executive Council retained their respective portfolios under the new cabinet arrangement.
