AS the 2026 International Youth Day (IYD) is being celebrated globally, Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, has urged the youth to harness their potential toward national transformation.
In a message issued in Abuja on Wednesday in commemoration of IYD, the first lady also advised youth to shun laziness and be conscientious.
She stressed the need for the young people to use education, innovation, entrepreneurship and active citizenship to pursue their dreams.
According to Tinubu, these will help them to fulfill their potential and build a more peaceful and prosperous nation.
“Today, I join the global community in highlighting the significance of this year’s theme: “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.
“Although young people come from diverse backgrounds and face different circumstances, they share common aspirations for quality education, meaningful employment, equal opportunities and a more sustainable future.
“I encourage our youth to remain focused and hardworking, as we commemorate this day,” Mrs Tinubu said.
She called on government and related stakeholders to support youth in pursuing their goals.
“Let us renew our commitment to supporting and empowering young people by creating opportunities for them to realise their full potential. This would help them to contribute meaningfully to the society,” the first lady said.(NAN)
