FOWL TALK – Fowler is wrong, Osimhen’s better than everyone at Liverpool

Former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler recently caused a stir by claiming Victor Osimhen​ is not world-class. 

In the same breath, he labelled two players from his former club, Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike, as the true elite. 

This evaluation is not just flawed, it completely ignores reality. Osimhen is not only world-class, but his track record proves he outperforms every single attacker currently playing at Anfield.

To understand why Fowler is mistaken, one only needs to look at what defines a world-class striker: delivering historic titles, dominating elite leagues, and performing under immense pressure. Osimhen has done all three.

When Osimhen led Napoli to their first Serie A Scudetto in 33 years, he did something no current Liverpool attacker has ever done as a talisman.

He scored 26 league goals that season, breaking African legend George Weah’s record as the highest-scoring African in Serie A history. 

He didn’t just play for Napoli; he carried an entire city on his back. By comparison, while Isak and Ekitike are good talents, neither has ever come close to anchoring a historic, league-winning campaign. 

Placing Ekitike, who struggled for game time at PSG before finding his footing at Frankfurt, above a proven Scudetto winner and former African Footballer of the Year is downright bizarre and disrespectful.

Furthermore, claiming Liverpool’s current forward line operates at a level above Osimhen ignores recent form and clinical efficiency. 

When looking at Liverpool’s central striking options, Osimhen outshines them easily.

Osimhen combines the absolute best traits of both Liverpool players without their drawbacks. 

He possesses the explosive pace, strength, and chaotic pressing power, combined with the lethal, instinctive finishing. 

He is a complete, modern weapon. Whether bullying defenders in the air, stretching backlines with runs in behind, or scoring spectacular volleys out of nothing, the Nigerian forward offers a ceiling that Liverpool’s current central attackers simply cannot reach.

Fowler’s comments feel less like an objective tactical analysis and more like Premier League bias. Just because a player has spent his recent seasons dominating in Italy or Turkey rather than England does not diminish his status. 

If Osimhen were dropped into the current Liverpool lineup, he would instantly become their most feared focal point and a guaranteed 25-goal-a-season guarantee.

Robbie Fowler needs a reality check. Discrediting Victor Osimhen while elevating unproven talents and inconsistent Anfield forwards is a foul take. 

Osimhen has conquered Italy, won Africa’s highest individual honour, and remains one of the most feared strikers on the planet. 

He isn’t just world-class, he is better than anyone Liverpool can put down the middle.
