The Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Samuel Adeyemi, has said the service has now been fully repositioned under his administration to respond to fire disasters across the country.
He also stated that his administration’s focus on personnel welfare had inspired officers to contribute their quota, culminating in the donation of the Quarter Guards to the Service.
Adeyemi said this Tuesday in Abuja while unveiling newly constructed befitting Quarter Guards at the Wuse Command and the National Headquarters of the Service.
CG Adeyemi described the project as more than a physical structure, adding that it represents a culture of ownership, commitment, discipline and pride in the service.
He said the initiative was particularly significant because it was conceived, designed and executed voluntarily by officers as a contribution to the institution.
“For the first time in the history of our service, officers have chosen to leave a lasting legacy, not because they were instructed to do so, but because they believe in the vision and direction of the Federal Fire Service,” he said.
Adeyemi stated that the Quarter Guards reflect professionalism, unity, creativity, and the spirit of service, adding that motivated personnel would willingly invest their time, skills and resources in building a stronger institution.
He said funds meant for a grand reception were redirected to purchase mattresses and other welfare items for fire-fighters nationwide.
He also stated that his administration initiated a Medical Intervention Scheme and increased the interest-free loan for personnel from N300, 000 to N500,000, among other welfare packages.
