The family of the late Rev. William Okoye, Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, has announced that his funeral service and burial will take place on October 9, 2026, in Agulu, Anambra State.
Details of the burial arrangements were contained in a statement released by the family and made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday. Blueprint reports
Rev. Okoye, who served as Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel during the administrations of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, died on July 15, 2026, at the National Hospital, Abuja, after a brief illness. He was 74 years old.
Burial activities
According to the statement, the funeral programme will commence with a Service of Songs scheduled to hold on September 30 at the Cathedral of Compassion, All Christians Fellowship Mission, Maitama, Abuja, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
This will be followed by a Night of Tributes and Honour at the National Christian Centre, Abuja, on October 2, also from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where family members, friends, associates and members of the Christian community are expected to pay their last respects.
The statement further disclosed that the remains of the late cleric will thereafter be conveyed to his hometown in Anambra State ahead of a wake keep at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Field, Agulu, on October 8 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral service in Agulu
The main funeral service is scheduled for October 9 at St. Peter’s Anglican Church Field, Agulu, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Following the church service, the late cleric will be laid to rest at his residence in Amatutu Village, Agulu.
According to the family, the burial rites will conclude with an outing service at Agulu Town Hall on October 11, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Legacy of service
Rev. Okoye was widely respected within Nigeria’s Christian community for his years of ministry and service to both the church and the nation.
As Chaplain of the Aso Villa Chapel, he ministered during the administrations of former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, offering spiritual guidance within the Presidency while maintaining his leadership of the All Christians Fellowship Mission.
Beyond his role in government, he was recognised for his evangelical work and commitment to Christian leadership, mentoring many ministers and faithful across the country.
His death was widely mourned by church leaders, government officials and members of the Christian community, who described him as a devoted servant of God whose contributions to the growth of Christianity in Nigeria would be remembered.
