Striker of Premier League club, Martin Sherif, has been slammed with charges by the English Football Association over alleged offences of breaking sports betting rules.
The FA stated that Sherif violated the rules by placing bets 61 times in over 15 months, breaching the rule enshrined in E1.2, and has five days to provide response over the allegations.
”It is alleged that the player breached FA Rule E1.2 in respect of 61 bets placed on football matches between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026,” reads a statement by the FA statement on Wednesday.
” Martin Sherif has until Monday 17 August to provide a response.”
The 20-year-old has not played for Everton’s first team after spending last season on loan at third-tier sides, Rotherham United and Port Vale.
He becomes the latest player to face betting-related charges after Ivan Toney was brandished an eight-month suspension in 2023 for 232 breaches of the FA’s betting rules.
