The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has commenced a four-week Basic Investigation and Enforcement training for 102 newly recruited officers of the Code of Conduct Bureau.
The training is aimed at strengthening the investigative capacity, professionalism, discipline and ethical conduct of the new officers.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, on Wednesday said the programme marked a significant milestone in the relationship between the two institutions, noting that it was the first time the anti-graft agency would host and train newly recruited CCB personnel.
Olukoyede, who was represented by the Acting Commandant of the EFCC Academy, Assistant Commander of EFCC, ACE1 Joseph Ogwiji, described the partnership as more than a training arrangement, saying it represented a new chapter in institutional collaboration and capacity development.
He said the initiative would provide the officers with the knowledge and skills required to effectively discharge their responsibilities and contribute to the fight against corruption and unethical practices in public service.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the CCB, Dr Abdullahi Usman Bello, said the partnership between the two institutions remained essential to the Federal Government’s efforts to promote integrity and ethical conduct in the public service.
Bello charged the trainees to approach the training with seriousness, noting that it was designed to prepare them to effectively carry out the constitutional mandate of the CCB.
He said the Bureau’s mandate included promoting transparency, preventing conflict of interest and contributing to the development of a public service that Nigerians could trust.
The trainees were also urged to uphold integrity, discipline, professionalism and confidentiality, while ensuring strict adherence to the law in the discharge of their duties.
The four-week programme is expected to equip the officers with practical knowledge and professional competencies necessary for effective investigation and enforcement in the performance of their official responsibilities.
