EFCC arrests Borno man for impersonating commission

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a suspected impostor, Nuhu Dahiru, for allegedly impersonating its operatives and obtaining N3 million from unsuspecting members of the public.

Dahiru was arrested by operatives of the EFCC Maiduguri Zonal Directorate on Monday at Tashan Bama, along Bama Road, Maiduguri, Borno State, following credible intelligence received by the Commission.

The anti-graft agency disclosed this in a statement posted on its social media handle on Monday, saying N3 million was recovered from the suspect at the point of his arrest.

According to the EFCC, preliminary investigations indicated that Dahiru had been falsely presenting himself as an EFCC operative and using the identity to obtain money from unsuspecting individuals.

The Commission said the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
