Army rescues four minors from Plateau kidnappers

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued four minors from kidnappers in Plateau State after foiling an attempt to abduct the children while they were returning from a farm.

The rescued children were identified as Happy Pius, 15; David Monday, 13; Mercy Pius, 14; and Joy Monday, 13.

The incident occurred on Monday at about 5:45 p.m. in Agingi community, Bassa Local Government Area of the state, where the children were intercepted by the kidnappers.

According to a military source on Wednesday, the troops moved swiftly to the area after receiving a distress call, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the attempt and flee.

The children were subsequently rescued and safely reunited with their families, while troops launched efforts to track down the fleeing suspects.

The operation prevented the children from being taken into captivity and underscored the importance of prompt security response to distress calls in rural communities.

The successful rescue also highlighted the role of timely information from residents in helping security agencies respond to threats and protect vulnerable members of the community.

As of the time of filing this report, troops were continuing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in the attempted abduction and strengthen security around farming communities in the area.
