The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has scheduled September 29, 2026, for a fresh governorship primary following the nullification of its earlier exercise by the Federal High Court.
The rerun will feature Isa Pantami, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Usman Aliyu Garry, who have been cleared by the party to participate in the contest.
The primary will be conducted across the respective wards in Gombe State, with eligible party members expected to vote at designated centres.
Confirming the rescheduled exercise on Friday, the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmed Dukku, said all eligible members would have the opportunity to choose their preferred aspirant.
“Following the nullification, the PDP wishes to inform all its card-carrying members that there will be a gubernatorial repeat primary election on Tuesday, 29th September, 2026,” Dukku said.
The party said it had accepted the court’s decision in good faith, while its leadership and the affected aspirants continued to study the legal implications of the judgment.
It also said the judgment affirmed Pantami’s membership and entry into the party, as well as his participation in the May 2026 primary election.
Dukku urged PDP members, supporters and other stakeholders to remain calm and avoid statements or actions capable of creating tension ahead of the rerun.
He added that the party would pursue all necessary legal steps to safeguard its interests and maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
The development followed a Federal High Court judgment in Gombe on Thursday, which nullified the earlier governorship primary and ordered the PDP to conduct a fresh exercise within 30 days.
