The Nigerian Army has arrested five Borno residents supplying logistics to terrorists during an intelligence-led operation in Borno State.
The army troops intercepted the arrestees: Falmata Jibrin, 53; Hajja Zaragon, 50; Falmata Ali, 50; Inagana Modu, 30; and Falmata Abubakar, 13 and made their arrests after receiving information about their activities and recovered food items from them including 65 packs of sweets, 117 packs of biscuits and 167 sachets of Dangote salt, alongside other provisions.
It was gathered on Friday that the arrests took place at Ngurusoye village at about 6:48 p.m. on August 17. Soldiers from the 151 Task Force Battalion, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, carried out the operation.
Following the operation, the suspects and the recovered items were transferred to the 21 Special Anti-Banditry Mobile Police Regiment for further investigation and necessary action.
The arrests were carried out under the ongoing operations of Operation HADIN KAI and Operation DESERT SANITY V, which are targeting terrorist supply channels and other networks supporting insurgent activities.
A military source aware of the arrest said troops remained on alert across the operational theatre despite a generally calm situation.
The source added that soldiers continued to maintain high morale and operational readiness as efforts to disrupt terrorist logistics networks intensified.
