Al-Qaryah Agro Allied (AAA) has presented a landmark proposal of $1.295billion for a Public Private Partnership (PPP) with the management of Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA) for Challawa-Goje Dam Agro-Industrial Hub.
Presenting the proposal, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Abubakar Nagwamatse, stated that it is designed to transform the Challawa-Goje Dam into Nigeria’s integrated Agro-industrial hub.
He added that the project is to focus on leveraging the dam’s massive assets, including its 930 million cubic metres capacity and 10,000 hectares surface area to host nine integrated agricultural systems.
“The proposed multi-dimensional project encompasses deep-water cage aquaculture, aquaponics, hydroponics, floating agriculture, integrated rice/fish farming, duck irrigation, and land-based support infrastructure including a 150,000MT/gear feed mill and a 50-million fry hatchery,” he stated.
He further stated that with a planned investment commitment of $1.295 billion, the initiative aligns directly with national food security goals, the SAPZ program, and the Komadugu-Yobe Basin SAP, aiming to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for teeming youth in Kano state while ensuring zero interference with the dam’s primary hydrologic and power operations.
