The lawmaker representing Lagos Senatorial West District at the National Assembly, Idiat Adebule, and her counterpart from Ogun State West, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has disclosed that the sum of N200 million is set to be disbursed to women in the area as a mark of empowerment.
Adebule made the declaration stating that the sum of N100,000 would be presented to 200 recipients from the district, who been slated as beneficiaries of the initiative, adding that the move is centred on ensuring that dividends of democracy is enjoyed by the inhabitants in the area, as well as an aim to support their businesses for effective family growth and societal development.
The legislator, who is gunning for a second term as the representative of the community, spoke for Yayi who was in absentia during an event held to showcase the beneficiaries, tagged ” Voice to Action: Empowering Women for Impact” held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos State Television in Ikeja on Wednesday, uttering that the empowerment is an act of democratic leadership aimed at thriving communities through the empowerment of micro businesses owned by women and also further facilitate the idea of making the women a more significant voice in the society.
She mentioned that the disbursement process would see the recipients get their access card and then the bank drafts after which the cash would be presented to them, and noted that the procedure would be held transparently to make sure that the funds get to the individuals.
Adebule held that the 200 people would get the provision as her way of showing her appreciation for the trust and support they bestowed on her when she contested for a sit at the national legislative chamber during the 2023 polls, which gave her the prize of representing the area at the Senate.
The lawmaker disclosed that the support has propelled her to making remarkable progress in all forms which has included legislative reforms of 12 bills sponsored and six that she co-sponsored for improvement in the education, child protection, effective judicial system to mention few.
While stating that legislative functions alone does not totally define impactful representation for the 28 local government and local council development areas in the Lagos West, she stressed that other necessary dividends have been provided in her spell which has cut across education, neighbourhood security and economic activities, electricity provision, which included provision of transformer, solar power, mega borehole, the latter, to provide clean and accessible water for residents in the area.
She noted that the inhabitants of the district as well as Lagos as a whole should continue to support her as she is fetching for another stint of representation, calling on all Lagosians to vote for her and other flagbearers of the the All Progressives Congress, APC
Keynote Speaker at the event, former Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Pauline Tallen, lauded the programme, as well as the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, calling for more periodic provision of the empowerment.

Tallen, a former Deputy Governor of Plateau State, charged more women in the state to emulate the act of Adebule, in a target to improve the living conditions of the women in the area.
She urged the receiving persons to make good opportunity of the funds, contribute positively into lives of others and become good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria as a whole.
