Nigerian content creator Geh Geh has sparked fresh debate on social media after advising men to avoid making major financial commitments to women they are dating.
Speaking during an appearance on the BTC Podcast, the social commentator argued that many men make costly financial decisions by prioritising their partners’ needs over their own financial growth.
According to him, men should focus on building their careers, businesses and personal finances instead of investing heavily in girlfriends.
During the interview, Geh Geh cautioned men against paying for expensive educational pursuits or setting up businesses for women they are in romantic relationships with.
“Don’t train a woman in school. Don’t stress yourself for a woman. Don’t open a business for a woman,” he said.
Responding to suggestions that women also make sacrifices by committing to one partner through marriage, Geh Geh disagreed, arguing that men and women play different roles in relationships.
He further claimed that marriage often brings financial benefits to women, noting that many no longer bear expenses such as rent after getting married.
Clarifying his position, Geh Geh said he was not opposed to relationships but criticised situations where people enter romantic relationships primarily for financial support.
“I’m not really against relationships. I dey against women wey wan use relationship take escape poverty. When you dey neglect yourself to please a woman, na financial mistake, you go cry,” he stated.
The content creator also referenced examples from the animal kingdom while defending his opinion, arguing that men should protect their financial future instead of making expensive sacrifices that could jeopardise their personal development.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with some social media users supporting his views on financial responsibility, while others criticised his generalisation about relationships and gender roles.
