The long-running rift between former P-Square members Peter Okoye and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, popularly known as Rudeboy, has resurfaced following a fresh exchange on social media.
Peter accused Rudeboy of using the backlash over one of his recent comments as another opportunity to publicly criticise him instead of offering support.
The disagreement began after Peter responded to a fan’s question about the usefulness of Nigerian languages with a remark that drew criticism from many social media users.
As the controversy gained traction online, Rudeboy posted a series of messages on X distancing himself from the statement.
In one of the posts, the singer wrote:
“I’m a ‘nobody’. I repeat! A nobody! Without the culture, native, language.”
Peter later responded, alleging that his brother deliberately seized the moment to damage his public image.
According to him, the latest incident mirrors concerns he had raised in an open letter published two years ago.
“You’re at it again, using this moment as another opportunity to pull me down. Just like I wrote in my open letter two years ago, doing everything possible to make people hate me will never work,” Peter said.
While acknowledging the criticism directed at him, Peter said he was willing to accept responsibility for his own comments but accused Rudeboy of intentionally misrepresenting his position.
He further alleged that his twin brother frequently joins public criticism whenever he comes under attack.
“Yes, people are dragging me over my statement, and that is okay. I accept that. But deliberately twisting my words and using petty tactics to damage my reputation says a lot.
“I don’t know why you look for every opportunity to make derisive comments or jump on the bandwagon whenever I am being attacked.”
The latest exchange adds another chapter to the highly publicised dispute between the brothers, whose relationship has remained strained since the breakup of the iconic P-Square music group.
