Following reforms introduced by the new leadership of the Kano Road Transport Agency (KAROTA), the authority weekend announced the arrest of a truck load of alcoholic beverages heading into the state where sale and consumption of such is prohibited.
This was stated by the Public Relations Officer of KAROTA, Abubakar Ibrahim Sharada, who described it as one of the several achievements under the newly implemented reforms.
Another achievement he made public was that of an officer of the authority that attracted widespread commendation across the state by showing compassion to the little daughter of a driver when he donated blood to save her life.
“The officer had stopped a motorist for violating traffic regulations. During the encounter, the driver explained that he was rushing to obtain blood for his critically ill daughter, whose condition required an urgent transfusion. He appealed to the officer to allow him to proceed, explaining that the emergency had caused him to violate traffic rules.
“Rather than dismissing the explanation, the officer took steps to verify the driver’s claim. After confirming that the child was indeed in critical condition at the hospital, the KAROTA personnel made an extraordinary decision by personally donating his blood to help save the girl’s life,” he said.
