Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued two persons abducted by terrorists during patrol in Zamfara state.
A statement signed by the Media Information Officer, Lt Col Aliyu Danja in Gusau, Wednesday, said the rescue was carried out on the morning of Tuesday, July 28, 2026, by troops of Sector 2 deployed at Gwashi.
During the patrol of a suspected terrorists’ enclave in the area, the troops freed Lance Corporal Basiru Labbo and Lauwali Dan Ada.
Lance Corporal Labbo was abducted on July 22, 2026, along the Zuru–Anka road. Mr. Dan Ada is a civilian from Kasahola village in Bukkuyum local government area of Zamfara state.
The statement said both rescued persons were immediately evacuated to the troops’ location. They have since undergone debriefing, medical evaluation and other necessary administrative procedures.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA said the successful rescue reflects its ongoing commitment to sustained offensive operations across the North-west.
“Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains committed to sustained offensive operations and rescue efforts aimed at protecting lives and restoring security across the North West,” the statement read.
Lt. Col. Danja further stated that the Joint Task Force has intensified patrols and clearance operations in Zamfara and neighboring states in recent months as part of efforts to curb kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes in the region.
