President Bola Tinubu has confirmed the appointment of ex Ekiti State governor Ayo Fayose as REA chairman and other 26 individuals to the board and administration of ten federal government institutions and commissions.
Bayo Onanuga, special advisor to the president on information and strategy, announced the nominations in a statement on Monday. They take effect immediately.
Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti, has been appointed chairman of the board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
Fayose will lead the REA board, which also includes Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta as members and non-executive directors.
Abba Aliyu, the agency’s director-general, and three previously chosen executive directors will sit on the board.
Tinubu also appointed retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as head of the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC).
Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, a former member of the House of Representatives, has been appointed secretary of the commission.
Other members of the commission include Ogbole Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Barde (Kaduna), Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Tor (Enugu), Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Iyabode (Kogi).
Tosin Adeyanju, who was earlier designated executive secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been reassigned as secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission.
The president also named Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc, and Anthony Godwin as Chairman and CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
Julius Oloro was appointed CEO of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), succeeding A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
Tinubu also formed the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission’s (FRC) board, with Abdullahi Saidu serving as chairman.
Other board members include Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Louis Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Onikola.
Shuni Dahiru was appointed executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult, and Non-Formal Education (NMEC), succeeding Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was transferred to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
The president also named Gisaor Iorja, an economist and secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), as executive director (financial) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), succeeding Mathias Byuan, who left to pursue his Benue governorship ambition.
