PROF. Bart Nnaji, Former Minister of Power says that public recognition has taken away one of his life’s greatest pleasures, the freedom to move around unnoticed.
Prof. Nnaji, a former minister of power, stated at the events marking his 70th birthday celebrations that he remains “happiest among ordinary people despite his accomplishments”.
“I like to be with normal human beings. That is where life really is,” he said.
He disclosed that he frequently returns to his village to spend time with community members because it allows him to enjoy simple conversations away from formal settings.
“That is why I always rush to my village… so that we can drink and gist and enjoy real life,” he said.
However, he admitted that increasing public attention now limits his freedom and “I cannot just walk this street now.”
Nnaji added that while success has brought recognition, it also comes with personal sacrifices he never anticipated.
