Photos of a mud-built police outpost in Garungudinya, Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, have stirred widespread reactions online after revealing that the structure remains an active Nigeria Police Force facility in 2026.
The images, which recently went viral across social media, initially led many Nigerians to believe they had been created using artificial intelligence.
However, local reports and community sources later confirmed that the ageing mud structure is genuine and continues to serve as a functioning police outpost.
Despite its fragile appearance, the outpost reportedly provides security services to about 4,000 residents of Garungudinya and nine neighbouring villages.
Officers stationed there are said to respond to complaints, conduct patrols and temporarily hold arrested suspects before transferring them to the Babura Divisional Police Headquarters, located about 37 kilometres away.

Residents familiar with the community explained that police personnel operate from the outpost around the clock despite its poor condition.
According to local accounts, suspects, including those accused of serious crimes, are sometimes detained inside the small mud building until transportation is arranged to move them to the divisional headquarters.
The development has renewed concerns over the condition of security infrastructure in many rural parts of Nigeria, with many questioning the welfare of officers expected to carry out their duties from such a facility.
