Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned one of Nigeria’s first fully integrated energy hubs, boosting access to cleaner energy and advancing the state’s transition to sustainable transportation.
The facility, developed through a partnership involving IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC) and NIPCO Plc, combines petrol, diesel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and a vehicle conversion centre in one location to serve commuters, transport operators and businesses.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Friday in Oshodi, Sanwo-Olu described the project as more than a conventional filling station, saying it represents a strategic investment in the state’s clean energy future.
According to the governor, the hub’s location will make cleaner and more affordable energy more accessible to commuters, transport operators and businesses while helping to reduce transportation costs for residents.
He added that integrating multiple energy solutions at a single facility would support Nigeria’s ongoing energy transition and improve energy security.
Sanwo-Olu said the project demonstrates what can be achieved through collaboration between the Federal Government, Lagos State Government, regulatory agencies and private-sector investors.
He commended NIPCO Plc and its management for their vision and investment, noting that Lagos is moving beyond policy commitments by implementing practical initiatives that support sustainable mobility, economic growth, business expansion and an improved quality of life for residents.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation, Temitayo Gbajumo, described the integrated energy hub as a major milestone in Lagos State’s energy transformation agenda.
He praised the governor for his unwavering support and leadership, which he said had enabled the corporation to expand its operations and embrace cleaner energy solutions.
Gbajumo also unveiled the Lagos Energy Access and Cleaner Mobility Programme (LEAP 2031), an ambitious roadmap designed to transform IBILE Oil and Gas Corporation into a fully integrated energy company capable of delivering both conventional and cleaner energy solutions across the state.
He said the programme envisions an expanded network comprising 18 retail fuel stations, eight LPG plants, four LPG hubs, five operational CNG refuelling stations with an additional 12 under development, four CNG vehicle conversion centres that have already converted more than 300 vehicles, as well as electric vehicle charging points to support the growing adoption of cleaner transportation.
Gbajumo added that the investments under LEAP 2031 would improve energy access, promote cleaner mobility, create employment opportunities, attract private investment and strengthen Lagos’ position as Nigeria’s leading economic hub.
“These investments are improving energy access, creating jobs and attracting investment and businesses to strengthen Lagos’ economic position,” he said.
