The Police Service Commission (PSC) has described as fake a press statement announcing July 16-20, 2026 as schedule for medical screening for recruits into the recently pasted State Police Act.
The Commission in a press statement by the
Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Torty Kalu, Friday in Abuja, said: “The attention of the PSC has been drawn to a fraudulent press release circulating on social media, purportedly issued by the Commission and signed by the Head of Protocol and Public Relations, regarding a supposed medical screening exercise scheduled for July 16- 22, 2026 and the activation of a portal on July 14, 2026 for printing of medical slips. This press release Is fake and was not issued by the PSC.
“The said publication, which also made reference to a purported ‘State Police’ Act 2026 and postings to states of origin, is the handiwork of fraudsters and should be completely disregarded.”
He clarified that the PSC held a stakeholders meeting yesterday, July 9, 2026 which was attended by officials from the PSC, NPF, Federal Character Commission and Ministry of Police Affairs. “The Commission will issue an official statement in due course on the outcome of the meeting and the next phase of the recruitment exercise into the Nigeria Police Force. All candidates and members of the public are advised to await this official communication.

The Commission warned that Police recruitment was free, stressing that the Commission does not charge any fees at any stage of the process.
“Candidates are strongly advised to avoid misinformation and rely only on official communication from the PSC.
“Anyone found circulating fake press releases or engaging in fraudulent activities will face severe legal consequences,” the Commission stated.
