A 34-year-old security guard, Mohammed Ahmed, has been arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State over allegations of conspiring with others to steal workshop equipment and supplies valued at ₦5 million.
The alleged offences were said to have occurred on July 15, 2026, at a mechanic workshop in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ota, where Ahmed worked as a security guard.
Ahmed pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him in court on Thursday.
Following his plea, the prosecutor, E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that Ahmed and accomplices still at large allegedly stole six adaptors, eight containers of hydraulic oil, three pumping cartridges and other workshop items valued at ₦5 million.
Adaraloye said the offences contravened Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted Ahmed bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with one surety in like sum.
The court ordered that the surety must reside within its jurisdiction, be gainfully employed and provide evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case was adjourned until August 10, 2026, for further hearing.
