One Dead, Three Rescued in Kano Building Collapse

A construction worker has died and three others have been pulled alive from the rubble following the collapse of an under-construction building in Kano, with authorities pointing to poor-quality materials as the likely cause.

The incident occurred on Friday morning at a site on Sultan Road, near Sazo Restaurant, in the Nasarawa Local Government Area.

The Kano State Fire Service received a distress call at 10:14 am from Musa Yau and mobilised firefighters to the scene within ten minutes, arriving at 10:24 am, according to spokesperson Saminu Abdullahi.

The injured victims were rushed to Sir Muhammadu Sanusi Specialist Hospital for treatment, where one was later pronounced dead. Mr Abdullahi confirmed that rescue operations remain active at the site.

He attributed the structural failure to the use of substandard building materials and urged engineers and developers to adhere strictly to standard specifications during construction to avert such avoidable tragedies.
