The Nigerian Army has rescued a soldier abducted in Plateau State after troops mounted a sustained operation that led to his release.
The soldier, identified as Cpl. Amos Bala, was rescued with varying degrees of injury after troops intensified efforts to locate him and mounted pressure on his abductors.
It was gathered on Tuesday that Bala was released two days after he was abducted from the Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATC), Miango Range, in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
A military operative involved in the rescue operation said troops of Sector 3, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), sustained pressure on the kidnappers during the operation, eventually forcing them to release the soldier.
Following his recovery, Bala was evacuated to the NATC Medical Centre for medical attention, where he was treated for injuries sustained during his captivity before later returning to his unit.
The rescue is part of ongoing military operations in Plateau State aimed at locating abducted persons and tackling criminal activities in areas under the command’s jurisdiction.
