Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a fleeing trailer driver and four other suspects over their alleged involvement in the theft and dismantling of a stolen trailer.
The suspects, identified as Temitope Omotayo Odulaja, 47; Segun Suleiman, 27; Haruna Olaogun, 49; Jimoh Wasiu, 42; and Quazzim Suleiman, 49, were arrested by detectives attached to the Ifo Divisional Headquarters for alleged conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen property.
The operation also led to the recovery of parts of the stolen trailer, including its head, while detectives uncovered a suspected syndicate allegedly involved in dismantling stolen trailers and disposing of their parts.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Monday, explained that the investigation began after the owner of the trailer reported at the Ifo Divisional Headquarters that his driver had absconded with the vehicle on June 6, 2026.
According to Babaseyi, the complainant said all efforts to trace the driver and recover the trailer proved unsuccessful, prompting the police to launch an intelligence-led investigation.
“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives led by the DPO, CSP Olabisi Kamorudeen, commenced an intelligence-led investigation and deployed technical intelligence to track the suspect. The suspect reportedly provided useful information that advanced the investigation.”
The trail of evidence led operatives to Ijebu-Ode, where four other suspects were arrested at different locations for their alleged roles in the criminal enterprise.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the stolen trailer was dismantled shortly after it was taken and its components unlawfully disposed of. Detectives have so far recovered parts of the trailer and taken photographs as exhibits,” Babaseyi added.
He further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining parts, identify other members of the syndicate, and establish the full extent of their activities.
Commenting on the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the detectives for their professionalism, describing the operation as a significant breakthrough against organized vehicle theft.
Ojajuni urged transport operators, fleet owners, logistics companies, and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities to the Police.
