The National Universities Commission has approved 24 new courses for Kwara State University in order to ensure academic excellence for the student.
The NUC stated that the initiative which takes effect from the 2026/2027 academic session brings to 24 the total number of new full-time programmes approved for take-off at the institution.
Fourteen of the programmes are at the undergraduate level while 10 are at the postgraduate level.
The approved undergraduate programmes are B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.Nsc. Nursing Science, B.Ed. Educational Technology, B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling, B.Ed. Health Education, and B.Ed. Entrepreneurship Education.
Others are B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management, B.Ed. Technology Education, B. Community Health Science, B.Eng. Computer Engineering, B.Eng. Industrial and Production Engineering, and B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering.
The postgraduate programmes include M.A. and PhD. Fine and Applied Arts, M.A. and PhD. Performing Arts, M.A. Linguistics, PGD M. Tech, and PhD. Food Science and Technology, PhD. Hospitality and Tourism Management, PhD. Public Administration, and PhD. Mass Communication.
The approval is contained in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, and signed by the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.
Prof. Saeedat Aliyu, Director, University Relations, on Wednesday quoted the Vice Chancellor as expressing excitement over the development.
“The university will continue to sustain the excellence in teaching, research, and community development for which the institution is reputed.
“This is by producing excellent human capital resources needed to propel global development,” the VC said.
