A Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has remanded a husband and wife over the alleged murder of a 25-year-old housewife, Kehinde Omize.
The defendants, Lamidi Salau, 67, and his wife, Lamidi Aina Abigail, 65, were accused of conspiring with another suspect, who is currently at large, to commit the alleged offence.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on September 9, 2026, within the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.
During proceedings on Monday, the prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the alleged offences contravened Sections 244 and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021, and urged it to grant a 30-day remand order.
Oriyomi said the original case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, adding that further investigation was required.
He argued that there were sufficient grounds to keep the defendants in custody pending the outcome of the investigation into the alleged murder and conspiracy.
The defendants, represented by Barrister L.A. Fasanmi, did not enter pleas to the allegations.
Ruling on the application, the Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the prosecution’s request and ordered that the couple be remanded at the Correctional Facility in Ado-Ekiti.
The court adjourned the case until October 9, 2026, for mention.
