Nigerian Student Dorcas Akanbi Graduates From Russian Medical School With 4.90 CGPA

A Nigerian student, Dr Dorcas Akanbi, has graduated from a medical school in Russia with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.90 out of 5.00, finishing among the institution’s best graduating students.

Akanbi announced the achievement in a post on X, where she said she had been inducted into the medical profession after completing her medical training abroad. She also shared that she graduated with one of the highest academic records in her class.

She wrote: “I have FINALLY been inducted into the medical profession!!! One of the BGS with a CGPA of 4.90/5.00. From Unilag to Russia, God did it!🥹✨ Dr. AKANBI D.E 🩺”

In another post, the new doctor shared a video of herself delivering the valedictory speech in Russian during the graduation ceremony.

The speech was delivered before fellow graduates, members of the university’s leadership, academic staff, relatives and guests at the ceremony. The video has since attracted praise on social media, with many commending her academic performance and fluency in the Russian language.

Her achievement has also drawn attention as another example of a Nigerian student recording academic success while studying medicine in Russia.
