Nigerian descent footballer, Micheal Kayode, has extended his stay at Premier League Club, Brentford, by signing a further six-year-contract ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Kayode penend the deal with Brentford which is expected to run till 2032, with a club option of another year, expressing delight over the decision having been an integral part of the side during the 2025/26 season.
Brentford manager, Keith Andrews, described Kayode as an amazing player who deserved the long contract and added, ”He epitomized everything good that we do. His development and evolution has been really, really impressive.
”Micheal is someone that we love working with every single day, who comes in with such an enthusiastic demeanour, and is a joy to be around with and to coach. We are absolutely delighted that he wants to stay because we love having him here and this new contract is absolutely deserved,” Andrews added after the actualization of the deal on Friday.
The 21-year-old defender was a big figure for the Gtech Community Stadium outfit last season as he helped the side finish ninth, and very close to securing European place football, and was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award, playing in 37 league games, scoring a goal for the side in March against Everton.
He began his career at Juventus where he spent seven years before departing in 2018. After a stint with Serie D club, Gozzano, Kayode joined Fiorentina where he made 4 appearances, including a run to the final of the 2024 UEFA Conference League final.
He joined Keith Andrews’s side on loan in 2024 and maade 12 appearances in his first-half season before the move was made permanent that summer.
