The Niger State Police Command has arrested 71 suspects and rescued nine abducted children during a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across the state in July 2026.
The command also rescued an abducted baby, recovered firearms, ammunition, stolen livestock, vehicles and other exhibits, describing the achievements as part of its sustained efforts to combat crime and improve public safety.
Presenting the command’s operational achievements for July 2026 yesterday, the police disclosed that officers recovered 10 AK-47 rifles, 15 AK magazines and 330 rounds of ammunition.
The command also recovered 17 goats, four cows, three motorcycles and two motor vehicles from suspected criminals during various operations.
Other items recovered included three cartons of tramadol, two bags of cannabis, 16 cutlasses, two knives, a sharp sickle, a shovel, a digger, three plastic pistols, 16 Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards, three Point-of-Sale (POS) machines, 105 fake National Identification Number (NIN) cards and 189 fake voter cards.
The command further recovered six mobile phones, four assorted mobile phones, a face mask, jewellery, 20 pairs of clothes, half a bag of rice, other illicit substances, as well as ₦330,000 and another ₦22,000 suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The police said the achievements reflected the dedication, professionalism and resilience of its officers and men, supported by credible intelligence and the cooperation of members of the public.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention and effective law enforcement, while urging residents to continue providing timely and actionable information to assist security agencies in identifying and apprehending criminal elements.
It assured the public of its resolve to sustain efforts toward building a safer and more secure Niger State.
