THE Nery Developmental Initiative (NDI) has reinforced its commitment to advancing reproductive and sexual health education by participating in a community sensitisation programme organised by the Gender Charity Community Development Service (CDS) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Kuje Area Council, Abuja.
The awareness campaign, held on Monday, July 20, brought together residents, stakeholders, and development partners to promote informed decision-making, healthy behavioural practices, and access to accurate reproductive and sexual health information among members of the community.
Representing NDI at the programme were the Founder/Executive Director, Amb. Rita Chika Ezenwa, and the organisation’s Head of Finance/Wellness Advocate, Mercy Agada, who joined facilitators and volunteers in engaging participants on key reproductive and sexual health issues.
The initiative formed part of the NYSC Gender Charity CDS’ efforts to improve public understanding of reproductive health by addressing common misconceptions, encouraging positive health-seeking behaviour, and equipping adolescents, young adults, women, and other vulnerable groups with reliable information needed to make informed choices.
Speaking after the event, Ambassador Rita Chika Ezenwa described reproductive health education as a critical component of sustainable community development.
She said, “Access to accurate reproductive and sexual health information empowers individuals to make informed decisions, protects vulnerable groups, and contributes to healthier families and communities. At Nery Developmental Initiative, we believe that partnerships like this create lasting impact by taking life-changing information directly to the people. We remain committed to supporting initiatives that improve health outcomes and advance human dignity.”
Participants also had the opportunity to interact with facilitators, ask questions, and receive practical guidance on reproductive health concerns in an open and inclusive atmosphere. The engagement aimed to increase awareness, dispel myths, and encourage greater utilisation of available health services.
NDI noted that its participation reflects the organisation’s continued dedication to health education, youth empowerment, gender inclusion, and sustainable community development. It also emphasised that partnerships between civil society organisations and institutions such as the NYSC remain essential in expanding access to vital health information at the grassroots.
The organisation commended the NYSC Gender Charity CDS, Kuje Area Council, for organising the sensitisation programme and reaffirmed its willingness to collaborate with government agencies, development partners, community-based organisations, and other stakeholders to implement initiatives that improve the health and well-being of Nigerians.
NDI further encouraged residents, parents, schools, community leaders, and development partners to actively support future health awareness campaigns, noting that collective action is essential to building healthier, safer, and more informed communities.
