In Sabon Garin Yero Village, close to Kashere town in the state’s Akko Local Government Area, the body of a 200-level student at the Federal University of Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, was found in a body of stagnant water.
Enoch Sunday Maisamari, a 28-year-old student at the Federal University of Kashere’s Department of Microbiology in the Faculty of Science, was identified as the deceased.
It was gathered that Maisamari had been missing since Sunday, having last been seen at a graduation party organised by the university’s final-year students.
A witness told a news correspondent that Maisamari, who hailed from Billiri Local Government Area of Gombe State, was found by the police on Tuesday morning.
The source said the police subsequently contacted the university authorities, after which one of his coursemates identified the body.
The Gombe State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that it received a report on Wednesday at about 9:30 a.m. regarding the recovery of Maisamari’s lifeless body from a stagnant water body in Sabon Garin Yero Village, Akko Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the victim was evacuated to the General Hospital, Kashere, where he was certified d£ad, with no visible marks of violence observed on the body.
He added that investigation is still ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
