Man Arrested Over Alleged Assault of Two Underage Girls in Rivers

A 50-year-old man known only as Godwin was detained by the Rivers State Police Command on suspicion of defiling two youngsters in Ogale, in the state’s Eleme Local Government Area.

Following a formal complaint filed by the parents of the children, ages 13 and 11, respectively, the suspect was reportedly taken into custody by Eleme Police Division officers at his home on Monday.

A man has been arrested in Rivers State over allegations that he sexually ass@ulted two underage girls after luring them into his room on the pretext of running errands.

The father of the older minor, identified only as Cletus, alleged that the suspect’s method was to send the two children on an errand and later invite them into his room once they returned with the item he had asked them to buy.

He said the suspect would then lock the door, turn up the volume of his music, and sexually ass@ult the children.

Cletus further alleged that after the incident, the suspect thre@tened to deal severely with the underage girls if they disclosed what had happened to them.

When contacted on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Blessing Agabe, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, saying investigations were ongoing.

Agabe, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said the police were yet to receive the medical form issued to the parents of the girls to ascertain the veracity of the allegations.

She confirmed that the suspect was in police custody, explaining that a medical form had been issued to enable the girls undergo examination, and that the police were still awaiting the results, which would help determine whether there was penetration.

She said should that be confirmed, the case would be transferred to the appropriate bureau, adding that investigations, including the medical examination process, were still ongoing.
