Former Big Brother Naija housemate Leo DaSilva has advised Nigerians to consider recording video wills as discussions continue over the family dispute following the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
The reality TV star shared his opinion on social media, saying a clear video record of a person’s final wishes could help prevent conflicts after death.
His comments come amid the ongoing disagreement involving members of the late actor’s family.
Family disagreement follows actor’s burial
Alex Ekubo died in May 2026 after battling kidney cancer and was laid to rest in his hometown on June 18.
Days after the burial, disagreements emerged between members of his biological mother’s family and his stepmother, who reportedly raised him from the age of seven.
The dispute centred on the circumstances surrounding the actor’s death and claims that family members were not allowed to view his body before burial.
The controversy later intensified after allegations surfaced that Alex’s elder sister contacted a blogger to publish reports critical of the stepmother.
Leo advocates clearer estate planning
Reacting to the public debate, Leo DaSilva said biological ties do not always reflect the closest family relationships.
He urged people to clearly document how they want their assets and personal affairs handled after death, recommending video wills as an additional way to communicate their intentions.
According to him, such recordings can reduce confusion and help ensure that a person’s wishes are respected.
Leo had previously spoken publicly about preparing his family for life after his death, stressing the importance of proper estate planning.
