Hails Blueprint for wider reach, reportage
The Kebbi state Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Ahmed, Wednesday, described the current governor, Dr Nasir Idris as both development-driven and people-oriented.
He said as at today, the state helmsman has fulfilled 95 of his campaign promises to the people of the state.
The commissioner stated this in Abuja during a courtesy visit he and other state appointees paid to the corporate headquarters of Blueprint newspapers in Utako, Abuja.
While eulogising the governor, he said he met the state yearning for a turn-around in the areas of infrastructural development, education, agriculture, social provisions, workers’ welfare among other sectors.
He particularly commended the Kaura Gwandu for the creation of the Ministry of Solid Mineral and Solid Mineral Development Commission (SMDC), saying between 25 to 30 different mineral deposits have led to not less than five companies, indicating interest to invest, while about 40,000 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created.
“Our governor has so far fixed many township roads, provided key infrastructure, consolidated on the state agricultural potentials and all that.
“On account of his leadership, today, it is safer for us to say that our principal is not only development driven but also people oriented governor, who has utilized the state manpower potentials in fulfilling 95% of his campaign promise so much that we can match any state in terms of road projects.
“On education, we are faring well. As I speak to you, there were construction of mega schools and vocational centers across the state. We also have general hospitals situated across the state as a way of demonstrating the governor’s commitment to citizenry health.
“While local contractors are being patronized in the state, a committee is currently in place to look into way of harmonizing positions on wages.
“There is also free fertilizer distribution and other inputs to assist farmers who are into agricultural practice in the state,” the Commissioner said.
While calling for collaborations between Blueprint and the state government, Ahmed commended the news medium activeness in the media space and the quality of its reportage in Kebbi and elsewhere.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Blueprint, Alhaji Salisu Umar, commended the delegations for the visit and kind words about the medium, reminding them that the state needs veritable platform to continue to convey the achievements of the state governor to communities and beyond the state.
Going back memory lane, Umar said the visit and the testimonies from his communication managers justified the management decision to present the best governor award to Idris last year.
Others, who were part of the delegation were the Press Secretary to the governor, Ahmed Idris, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, Special Assistant New Media, Aliyu Bandado, Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment and Orientation, Ibrahim Jumbali and the Special Assistant on Strategic Communication, Abdullahi Zuru.
