President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian benefits from government projects, saying all citizens deserve to feel the impact of governance through improved infrastructure in their communities.
The President made the remarks on Thursday during the inauguration of the rehabilitated 16-kilometre Old Keffi Road, stretching from Kado to the Village Junction at Dei Dei via the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The project, one of several executed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), was commissioned as part of activities marking the third anniversary of the Tinubu administration. It is the 17th project unveiled during the ongoing 31-day inauguration programme.
Represented at the event by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu said his administration was determined to build a nation where development reaches every district and citizen.
According to a statement issued by the Special Assistant to the President of the Senate on Media and Communication, Anietie Ekong, the President stressed that inclusive development remains at the heart of his administration’s agenda.
“We are building for inclusion, for safety, and for growth. Every district deserves access. Every citizen deserves to feel the impact of government where they are. Let us join hands for growth and development. Together we can build the Nigeria of our dream,” Tinubu said.

Describing the newly rehabilitated road as more than just transportation infrastructure, the President said it would stimulate economic activities by improving connectivity between Kado, Saburi, Gwagwa, Idu, Karmo and Dei Dei.
“This road is an economic artery. By linking these communities directly to the Outer Northern Expressway, we have reduced travel time and transportation costs for residents. Goods will move faster, markets will thrive, and workers will commute with less stress,” he said.
Tinubu added that the project was complemented by the FCTA’s “Light Up Abuja” initiative, with the installation of streetlights to enhance security and extend commercial activities beyond daylight hours.
“That is what the dividends of democracy look like—government showing up where citizens live,” he said.
The President also appealed to residents to safeguard public infrastructure by preventing vandalism and maintaining the facilities.
“Do not vandalise streetlights. Do not block drains with refuse. Report any damage promptly. A road maintained by its community lasts for generations, while one neglected or abused deteriorates quickly,” he said.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said the rehabilitation of the Old Keffi Road was undertaken in response to longstanding demands from residents of the affected communities.
According to him, the project reflects the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to restore confidence in government through the delivery of critical infrastructure.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu is about bringing back hope where people had lost hope. These communities have experienced renewed hope and will never forget President Tinubu,” Wike said.
The minister commended traditional rulers, community leaders and residents for their cooperation with the contractor, which ensured the timely completion of the project.
He also assured residents that more road projects would be executed in the area to further improve connectivity and accelerate development across the FCT.
