The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River state has called on those who are yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) to make use of the window of opportunity provided by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do so before the expiration of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
Addressing journalists in Calabar, weekend, IPAC chairman in the state, Effiom Edet Okon, who was flanked by leaders of other political parties, said the issue of getting involved in elections “is about our collective future, our democratic responsibility, and the power of every citizen to determine the direction of our State through the ballot.”
He said: “The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is gradually coming to an end. The remaining days present a final opportunity for every eligible Cross Riverian to secure his or her place in history by registering to vote.
“Our message today is simple and clear: No voter’s card, no voice. No registration, no participation. Democracy begins with voter registration.
“Over the past weeks, IPAC has mobilised political parties across the eighteen local government areas, working hand- in- hand with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), civil society organisations, youth and women groups, traditional rulers, religious leaders, market associations, and community stakeholders to ensure that no eligible citizen is left behind,” he said.
