Social commentator Isaac Fayose has said his support for Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi is a personal decision and could be withdrawn at any time if he chooses.
Fayose, who is the younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, made the remarks in a video shared on his Facebook page while responding to criticism over a recent viral video that showed him praying with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The video sparked speculation about his political allegiance, with some supporters questioning whether he had abandoned Obi ahead of the 2027 general election.
Reacting to the criticism, Fayose said his previous support for Obi should not be regarded as an obligation, stressing that he is free to support any candidate of his choice.
He also claimed to have invested significant resources in Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, adding that he had never received appreciation from the former Anambra State governor.
Fayose further stated that he admires both President Bola Tinubu and his son, Seyi Tinubu, noting that he could decide to campaign for the president if he wished.
The comments come just days after Fayose dismissed claims that his meeting with Seyi Tinubu and other supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) signalled a departure from his support for Obi.
His latest remarks are likely to fuel further political debate as parties and supporters continue to realign ahead of the 2027 general elections.
