“I spent nearly ₦60k on our first date before she told me she was married” – Man cries out

A Nigerian man has shared his disappointment after claiming that a woman he met on Facebook allegedly revealed she was married only after he spent thousands of naira on their first date.

Narrating his experience in a viral video shared on X (formerly Twitter), he revealed that they had been chatting online for some time and that he had even been sending her money before they finally agreed to meet in person.

According to him, the woman insisted they meet at a public place and chose a popular restaurant for their date.

In his words, he said:

“See me, see wahala. Look at this woman I met online. We met on Facebook and kept chatting. I invited her to my house, but she said no, that we should meet at an open place. She selected Kilimanjaro.”

The man claimed that before he arrived, the woman had already started eating and continued ordering more food throughout the date, leaving him with a bill of nearly ₦60,000.

He explained that he didn’t complain because he wanted her to enjoy herself, believing she was genuinely hungry.

“I spent almost ₦60,000 just on food for our first date. After that, we booked a Bolt to my house, but on the way, she told me she was married. This is someone I’ve been sending money to before we even met, and she never told me she was married,” he added.

His story has since sparked reactions online, with many social media users sharing mixed opinions about honesty, online dating and first-date expectations.
